Georgie Girl

Just a few more pictures to keep you interested. Hopefully tomorrow I will find time to blog. :)
We're all doing well. I feel great. Jake is having a bit of a time. This two kid adjustment might just be a little tricky.
Stay tuned...

Look Who's Arrived...

Georgia Ann arrived this morning at 7:24 am, weighing in... are you ready for this???... at 10.8 pounds, 21 inches in length. She is absolutely beautiful. Her birth was quick. Contractions got serious at 3am, the midwives were called at 4, my water broke (all over the bedroom carpet and John's clothes) at 6:30 and she was here at 7:24. Soooo different than Jake's birth. I didn't even make it into the birthing pool. She was born on our bed. Jake slept through the whole thing. More details later. I need to sleep...

One minute old.... if that.

Getting checked out... everything looks/sounds GREAT!

Notice of Eviction

She passed all the tests today with flying colors!! But that still doesn't mean she get's to stay. I've issued an eviction notice. She should be out by Monday.

PS: the back-up doctor was amazingly kind and supportive about the whole being 41+3 weeks. Hooray for him today... otherwise I would've had to bust some skulls! :) I suppose it helped that the tests showed that she really is doing well in there... no need to panic at this point. Just needs a little time.

Cursed.... ?????

I'd just like to .... um, thank?... those of you who voted that this baby would be born in the 41st week --- dang you! You've cursed me.

Thanks a lot Heather (Mo of Geese)!! It looks like you'll be winning the coveted prize for picking the right week (no one else who chose this week fessed up to it!) Unless, I go into the 42nd week... oh, let's not even go there though.

And here's a quick update. ** WARNING: This could be too graphic for you **
I had my appointment yesterday with Aviva. My blood pressure is great, the baby's heart rate is perfect, as are her movements. We did three rounds of "cervical stimulation" (sweeping the membranes) and I walked for 30+ minutes between each round. It wasn't the most comfortable thing I've ever experienced, but it started my contractions... at least for a little while. They stopped just about the time John and I arrived home... dang! BUT, things are changing with my body. I can tell. There are lots of new pre-labor things going on... sooooo.... soon! Tomorrow I am meeting with the back-up doctor to have an amniotic fluid index and non-stress test done -- just so we are positive this baby is doing well in there. On Friday *if* she hasn't arrived yet, we do more "sweeping" and again on Saturday. I've set my own personal deadline for Saturday. If she ain't here by then, I'm doing the Castor Oil, but I'm really, really, really hoping I don't get to that point!! :) Believe me, I've heard the horror stories!

Distractions... Much Needed Ones...

Thank goodness for good friends who help keep me occupied! Today I am officially one week past my due date so Elizabeth and Meme came to visit and go to lunch. I am so grateful for these two. They were lifesavers today. We talked a little about the baby, but mostly it was about life, our kids (who are here!), and anything else we could think about!

We had such a nice afternoon. While we visited, Jake and Noellie played in the water outside -- completely soaking themselves -- and Norah showed off her newly acquired walking skills. We also watched the documentary, "The Business of Being Born" by Ricky Lake. It was really good... and I MUST say, I am READY to be about that business myself! :)

Tomorrow I have my weekly appointment with Davi and Aviva, here's hoping after that visit it's GO TIME! :)

Oh... and I deserve the Mother of the Year Award today. While I was attempting to trim up the hair around Jake's ear I clipped the tip of his ear. There was blood EVERYWHERE. I felt awful and he cried and cried and cried. Mother of the Year... right here! It's no wonder this little one inside wants to stay in there! :)

Happy Easter!

It was a beautiful Easter day here. We had a nice lunch with Gramma and GG'ma and did a little egg hunting at their house. It's too bad this little girl hasn't arrived yet, Jake could have really used some competition in the egg hunt. He took his sweet time, opened each egg (once he figured out there was stuff inside), sat down and ate the candy. If someone else were there he would've been hustlin'!! Next year...

We also had a really cute Easter dress for this little girl... too bad she didn't get to wear it. I suppose now it just becomes a really cute Sunday dress instead-- assuming it fits by the time she actually decides to make her grand entrance! :)

Happy Easter!

Baby Watch 2008

Well, here we are on Saturday evening... and still no baby.

I've had a few questions about homebirth and being extra "late" (although technically you can give birth between 37 -42 weeks and still be considered "on time"--- but that doesn't make the "due date" come and go any easier...). If, for some crazy reason, this child refuses -- or as Jill puts it, "sets up camp and refuses to come" -- before 42 weeks I will need to have a non-stress test and amniotic fluid test done to make sure she's A-ok in there. If those turn out well (which they should!) we wait another 3 days... if still nothing, we test again. BUT, in the meantime we get more aggressive with natural ways of induction. (This actually will start on Tuesday if she's not here.)

Thanks for all being on BABY WATCH 2008... I cannot wait to share pictures and the story of the birth with all of you... Stay tuned!!

In the meantime, Jake sure is cute! :) He's been dying Easter eggs the last few days and is definitely not the most gentle boy with a hard boiled egg in his hand! We went to get his hair cut yesterday and it was a nightmare! He hadn't had a nap and wasn't feeling well -- what were we thinking?!?!? He screamed the entire time and I eventually had to ask the woman to stop, about 3/4 of the way through. I couldn't take the wiggling and screaming and hyper-ventilating anymore... now I get to finish the job... when he'll stop running from me! Oh the joys...

How's Your Bracket??

Here's who I chose that advanced today:

Washington State, Kansas, Wisconsin, Stanford, UCLA, Xavier, West Virginia, and Duke. Only got 50% right. Suppose that's not too shabby. Although I did have Kentucky going to the Final Four and they're out. Ooops.

And, if this baby had come today this post would be A LOT more exciting!! (Kerrie, I sure wish you had been right!!) But, my cousin Amberly had her baby today... so congrats to her. Now there's only one other person I know who was due around the same time who has not had her baby beside me. All the others (Melinda, Christy, Shannan, Ali, Stephanie, and now Amberly) have... my turns a-comin'!! :)

One more thing... we found out yesterday that we'll be getting a new nephew in August! Congrats to Scott, Gretchen, Sterling, Abi, and Miles... and ?? we can't wait to meet him.

Tagged!

My dear friend Val (Davies Six) tagged me with this little "get to know you". I figured I'd do it... and let you know there's still no baby. I went in today, they checked me, nothing's changed. She is still nice and high, here's hoping she decides to make her grand entrance soon!

What I was doing 10 years ago:
10 years ago I was living in Logan, Utah with Meme attending Utah State. We ended up there on a whim and were completely enjoying it! It was my Junior year (after a 3 year break after graduating Ricks) and I'd FINALLY decided what I wanted to be when I "grew up". I'd just met Miss Led (Melanie), Mother of Geese (Heather), and Jersey Spilkers (Amy) and we were living it up as the oldest girls in our ward! We had also discovered the greatness of Aggie Basketball.

5 things on my "to do" list today:
1. An appointment with Aviva (check), 2. Lunch with Mom (check), 3. Take Jake to the park (check), 4. Make dinner (cereal, check!), 5. Enrichment (except John just called to inform me that he's being sent on another appointment and Jake is falling asleep at the table, looks like I won't be making it-- dang!) .... NOT on my list of things to do today, but now I get to do anyway --- clean up my bathroom that was just covered in lotion thanks to a little boy who shall remain nameless! uurrrgghhh!

Snacks I enjoy:
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, chips & salsa, ice cream, fresh blueberries on just about anything

Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Live it up-- on the interest, of course! Let's just say we'd have a nice house, nice vacations, and college/mission funds for our children in place. We'd also do a lot of philanthropy.

3 of my bad habits:
impatience, eating out, lack of homemaking skills

5 places I have lived:
Lancaster, CA -- Rexburg, ID -- Logan, UT -- Salt Lake City, UT -- and where I am today!

5 jobs I have had:
1. Sales -- Lerners, Howard & Phils, 2. Server -- Kate's Kitchen, 3. Event Coordination -- USU Alumni Office, United Way, International Sports Broadcasting, 4. Teacher -- Highland High, and 5. Mama!

5 people I want to know more about (a nice way of saying "TAG"):
Oh... I'd love to read anyone's... if you're interested, go for it! :)

A Day at Gramma's

My mom's on Spring Break this week... so we spent the day at her house to keep busy. Jake had a lot of fun playing with the toy fish in the spa and running around the backyard like a crazy man.

We also had a special visit from my cousin Dawn and her two girls Miranda and Mariah. (I can't believe how grown up they are... and how much they look like my mom!)
Mariah, Dawn, Miranda

Tonight John, Jake, & I went out to dinner and then to Staples to pick up some things I need for a baby book I'm making. (Still, all in the name of keeping busy!!)

And I had John take the 40+1 week picture of me... a front and side view. I also took a picture of my feet because they are no longer recognizable as mine!

Yes, I know I need a pedicure! :)

Hippity Hop, Easter's On It's Way...

Our homeowners association hosts an Easter egg hunt each year and today was the day. We had a lot of fun watching Jake hunt for eggs. He actually did really well this year, I think he "got" it. He even waved to the Easter Bunny from line and said - over and over again, "Hi Bunny!" He sure is a cute boy!

Waiting - oh, so patiently - for the egg hunt to begin

Henry, Jake, & Flynn

Finally, egg hunting!!

Look What Arrived Today...

I've been waiting with great anticipation for this day to arrive... my blog book is here!! I absolutely love it! It's so fun to have last year in hardbound memories. I love it, I love it, I love it!!

Come on by and take a look... if you'd like to! I'm more than willing to show it off! :)

Help, Help, Help, It's Stuck...

Breakfast this morning...

Jake always does the silliest things when we're eating, today it was sticking his hand in his yogurt. It got stuck. I thought it was pretty funny, decided to video him instead of helping. I'm such a nice mom! :)

(Sorry the video is sideways, I forgot that I have to take it the other direction for blogger.)

39th Week...

well, I'm still here, pregnant and all... although I'm quite ok with that. Sure, I'm uncomfortable but knowing that she's safe and sound inside beats the stress of waking up all hours of the night to feed her... and knowing that I have TWO kids to take care of. That stuff will come soon enough, I can wait a little longer. :)

In my little poll MOST of you voted that she'd be born this week... we shall see...

The THE Salad

I've heard from several people that there's a quaint little pizza place in Studio City that claims to have a labor inducing salad, so yesterday we decided to give it a try.

After walking and walking through Costco we headed south for Caioti Pizza Cafe and the THE Salad. As we walked in everyone knew by looking at me what we were there for and once we found a table our server said, "you'll have the THE Salad" and looked at John and asked what he wanted. While we waited for our order, he proceeded to bring over several books with "testimonials" from overdue women about how the THE Salad had worked for them. One even claimed that her water broke while eating it! (Later John confessed that he was a little nervous while I ate!)

The THE Salad was soooo good (with Romaine, walnuts, Gorgonzola, watercress, balsamic vinaigrette -- how can you go wrong??) This little baby inside went crazy while I ate. And here we are almost 24 hours later and... nothin'. Still pregnant. It was worth giving it a shot though! :)

The BIG Slide...

Today we checked out a new park near us and Jake was in heaven! There are two playgrounds - one for 2- 5 year olds and another for 5- 12 year old kids to play... and, of course, Jake decided to play at the big kids playground. When we first got there he went down the slide with Kyle on the little playground and then he saw "The BIG slide" and that was the end of that.

The first time he climbed up to go down the BIG slide, I went up with him thinking he could sit on my lap and we'd go down together. Well, that was my thought until I got to the top and realized not only could I not fit in the slide, I would have to slide down on my back and it was really steep and scary... I didn't want to do it! But, Jake really did so I let go of his little arms and he "weeeeeeeee'd" all the way down. And thus began the hour long over and over on the BIG slide.

The older kids were so good when Jake would cut in front of them in line, they'd just let him go, like they thought he must be tough for being so little and going down that slide. It was fun (and nerve- racking) to watch!! I can't believe my baby boy is so grown up... and not afraid of anything!!

On another note- He's becoming quite the little piano man. When he woke up from his nap on Wednesday the first thing he did was push a chair over to the piano and started playing. I caught him in all his Piano Man cuteness.

A Watched Pot

Recently I was reading my blog-friend Ali's post on being a "watched pot" (she's due March 21st) and I could totally relate! I've had many phone calls already... and if I don't answer one phone the other rings and the first question when I finally do pick up or return the call is.... can you guess???... "are you in labor?" Currently, the answer is NO. I am not in labor... although it is possible at any time.

As of LAST WEDNESDAY -one week ago today- here is where I'm at in the whole 'preparation' process (and it ain't very far...)

Dilation: 1- 2 cm (nottin')
Effacement: 30% (again, nottin')
Station: "Baby is still very high" (then why does it feel like she's falling out?! apparently a common feeling for 2nd pregnancies...)

So there you have it. I could be like this for weeks... or it could all change in the blink of an eye. You never know with these little babies. They come when they are good and ready... and not one minute sooner! :)

Thanks for you love and concern though. I really do appreciate it!! xoxoxox loves.

It's All... Pink!

Help! Someone must have slipped a red blanket into Jake's laundry because when I went to get it out of the dryer everything was PINK!! :)It's so weird having cute little pink clothes to fold and put away, but I've washed all the newborn clothes, blankets, and burp cloths... bring on this baby girl! We're ready!!!

A Fun Little Party...

I really have the sweetest friends. Today Heather & Kiersten hosted another baby shower for me with the women from our ward. It was so fun to visit with everyone and eat yummy, yummy treats. Kiersten ordered an amazingly beautiful cake that was sooo pretty I didn't want to cut into it, but I am sooo glad we did! It tasted as great as it looked! Those two really know how to throw a party!! As a parting-gift for each guest Heather made "Georgia" cd's with songs all about Georgia. It is too cute! I've listened to it several times already!!

some of the guests (and Kiersten's cute clothes line over the fireplace)

The cake and food spread... yum, yum, yum...
Thanks to Heather & Kiersten for your love and support and thanks to everyone who came for your kindness and generosity in welcoming this new baby into our family. We love you!!
