What Does a Pirate Say???

We had a great Halloween! We started trick-or-treating in our little cul-de-sac and then headed to Gramma's. Jake loved getting the candy but was a little hesitant on the "trick-or-treat" request.

Gram as Dora, Georgia, and our Pirate

After collecting the goods from Gramma we walked over to Lester's and made out like a bandit.

{I've been trying to get this on video for a few weeks now. He is so stinkin' cute!! I know it's dark and not very good but it's the best I could get since 'someone' wasn't the most cooperative. :)}

Finally it was time to head to the Reagan's for their annual Halloween Party. We had a great time with friends there. Jake, Kyle & Flynn were all dressed as pirates again and were so cute {and obnoxious} together. Norah was the cutest little Ladybug, Charlotte was Minnie Mouse, Ella was Tinkerbell & Hadley was Belle, Logan was Belle & Hailey was Princess Leia. They were all so cute! The Reagan's sure know how to throw a party; there was more food then all of us together could ever eat and fun games to play. It was a great Halloween!!

from Pumpkins to Jack-o-Lanterns

Our cute little pumpkins

We made our way to the pumpkin patch again this afternoon. It was a great way to spend time together as a family. Jake helped John pick out our pumpkin to carve and then picked out his very own little pumpkin. Jake loved going through all the pumpkins trying to find the perfect one. He wanted a scary one. {Although we're not quite sure what his definition of scary is!} Georgie liked being out in the open with Mama, Dadda, & Jakey. She did give a few suggestions for which pumpkin Jake should pick...

Once we got home we ate dinner and waited for Jake to wake up {he fell asleep in the car on the way home... way too late!!}. He finally woke up around 8 and we started making our pumpkin into a Jack-o-Lantern. Georgie watched as John drew out the face with Jake giving directions... he wanted triangle eyes, a triangle nose, and a scary mouth. {I was on picture duty.} Once they got to the cleaning out part Jake was totally disgusted {John wasn't too impressed either, but being the good Dad he is, he just kept on cleaning. Neither of my boys like getting their hands dirty.}

But once the transformation from pumpkin to Jack-o-Lantern was complete they were pretty pleased with themselves!

oooohhhh scary!

And then Jake gave me directions on how to make the little pumpkins scary too.

Now we're ready for Halloween!

Favorite Things

Jake's lovin' our library story time. Today he laughed out loud as the librarian read a story about a skeleton with hiccups. It was hilarious! None of the other kids seemed to think it was funny, but Jake kept making hiccup noises with the story and laughed and laughed at the end. I love his little sense of humor. He's also really enjoying the chance to dance and sing with his friends. I'm so glad I signed him up!

Jake, Kyle, & Ian touching their toes

Tonight after another Prop 8 rally {that had another 150+ people} we stopped at the park so Jake could play. I decided that it was time for Georgie to try out the swings... and she loved them! She laughed and laughed and had the hugest smile the entire time. It was so dang cute!

Doin' Our Part

Because the family is worth saving...

We've spent our afternoons at 'Yes on 8' rallies to let our community know they are not alone in their desire to protect marriage. This specific afternoon there were 300+ members of our church and community out. It was amazing!

Trunk-or-Treat

Tonight was our ward Trunk-or-Treat. Jake wanted to be a pirate and Georgie was a sailor girl. They both were adorable!
Jake really wanted a treasure map to carry... so this is what I came up with
Flynn & Kyle were pirates too.
It was a fun night! We can't wait for Halloween to dress up and trick-or-treat some more!

Disney Day

We met the Barker's at Disneyland today. It was a lot of fun! Jake loved hanging out with Jarom and Georgie loved all the attention from Kate and Anne. I loved chatting with Stacee and John and Rand enjoyed the time together as well. We were also lucky enough to visit with Richard & Lynn.

It really was a great day! We were able to go on several rides all together and then Richard & Lynn volunteered to watch the kids so the adults (& Kate and Anne) could go on Indiana Jones and Space Mountain. I was in heaven! It's been 4 years since I've gotten to go on the 'big kid rides' and they were so fun! Thank you, thank you, thank you to Lynn & Richard for those moments!! I'm not sure how much fun they had with Georgie screaming while we were gone, but I so appreciated the opportunity, and when we got back she was sound asleep in the stroller... all twisted up and comfy!

They are so much fun to be with, it's a shame we can't get together more often! If only we could get them to move to California... :)
**hopefully we'll be adding pictures from Disneyland soon. I wasn't the best photographer today, but Rand took a few pictures with his camera.

Pausing...

I know, I know, it's been awhile. I've been a bit overwhelmed.

I have pictures to post and stories to tell, but just no time.

Soon, hopefully, I'll be back to the regular scheduled program.

In the meantime I'm wondering who I make a 'day off' request to. Is there paperwork I need to fill out??

Pumpkin Fun

Jake, Georgie, & Norah
This is like wrangling kittens, trying to get all three of them to look in the same direction at the same time!!

Georgie loved sitting in the pile-o-pumpkins. She was fascinated with those little orange things.

This one makes me imagine the future... thank goodness we've got a few years...

Jake loved all the little orange pumpkins too. He really enjoyed climbing on them and throwing them. (stinkin' kid!)

We made our yearly trek to the pumpkin patch with lots of friends. We had lots of fun: Jake got lost (just for a few minutes, but long enough to send me into a full-fledged panic) and I ran into my school girl bff, Jodi. We were inseparable from 5th -9th grade and even had the heart necklaces to prove it.
It was a good, but scary/hectic/crazy day. I hope we can go back with John when I might actually be able to enjoy it and get the pictures of my kiddies that I hoped to get today.

Life Right Now

This one wants to be wherever I am. All. the. time. I cannot get away from her. Ever. If I'm not holding her, or feeding her, or paying 100% attention to her she cries. Some days it gets to be a little much.

This one has figured out how to turn on the computer, open Explorer, find pbskids.com or disney.com or nickjr.com, and play games to his hearts content. All. by. himself. He would spend all day, everyday standing right there on that chair. If I (or John) mention it being time to turn off the computer we get the joy of a full-on tantrum. Every time. Some times, ok all the time, it gets to be a little too much too.

Ahhh, life right now.

As for this post, I found this report tonight and it lit my fire again. Someday I hope to do something for real with that fire.

...Prayers Please...

As you say your prayers this night and as we have fast Sunday tomorrow we are asking that you remember our dear friend's baby boy. She is currently pregnant, there are no 100% definite answers at this point as to a diagnosis or what the exact outcome will be but this sweet angel baby has some abnormalities with his brain and heart. Testing is still under way but they have gotten preliminary results that rule out some viruses that could be worst case scenario.

Again, please remember this sweet baby boy, his Mommy and Daddy, and big sister in your prayers and thoughts for their comfort and the best outcome possible for their little family.

Lil' Helper

Every time Jake is in the bathroom, whether it's taking a bath or using the toilet, Georgie wants to be right there with him. She'll crawl from wherever she is in the house to get there. Today while Jake was in the bath she crawled on in and tried to help him out a little.
She's pretty dang cute... and such a good lil helper!

Library Trip & Fun Friends

Today Jake {& Georgie} had his first trip to the library. I signed Jake up for Story Time and he really seemed to enjoy it.

Afterwards he and Georgie played and read books together. I loved watching them, it makes my heart sing!

Jake even got his very own library card and checked out two books about Halloween. I'd say it was a successful day at the library.

~~
After the library Melanie called and asked if Norah could come play with us while she went to a doctor appointment. Then Kyle called to see if Jake could play. We said, "Of course!" to both of them and a little after lunch time Jake had two friends over to play. It gets a little hectic with friends over in our tiny house, but we had a good time anyway. Kyle and Heather stayed for awhile and left when it was nap time, but Norah got to stay and play longer. After Georgie woke up and it cooled off a little outside we headed into the front yard to play. Jake & Norah were really cute together chasing the ball and rolling on the grass.
They also enjoyed the flowers. Too bad they were pulling them off to look at them!

They were sure cute though. Every once in awhile they'd come rest on the blanket with Georgie. {Can you believe Norah is almost 11 months older than Georgie? Georgie outweighs her and wears bigger clothes, but Nor is taller.} They are so fun together, all three of them. We feel so blessed to have such special friends. Melanie and I have been friends for a long time and I hope that Jake, Georgie & Norah get that too. Dear friends are such an important part of life!!
