Halloween Spirit

Georgie and I are getting into the Halloween spirit, we've been sewing...

and they're very, very scary!
(at least that's what Georgia Ann says...)

Typical Tuesday

Norah & Tommy came to play this afternoon.
Our kids are so dang cute!
Poor Tommy, Georgie would not leave him alone.

Georgia Ann did not take a nap today...
But at 11:45pm she was still wide awake--whining and crying for Daddy to hold her.

At 11:46pm she was out cold!

Sounds of Sunday

Georgie decided that she wanted Naomi to wear the same dress as she was wearing to church today. They were very cute in their matchy-matchy.

{after we got the picture of the girls together, jake & george wanted to take pictures too...

jake's picture ........ georgie's picture
and then it was time to put the camera away and leave for church...}

For the past few months, every Sunday on the way home from church Jacob asks John if they can "make one of those fruit drinks" when we get home and then we go through the list of what kind of fruits we have at home. It's become a Sunday tradition-- a mighty tasty one too!

At least we're getting some use out of that Vitamix!!

Sleepy Girl

I know she's only 2 1/2 years old, but this is a girl who does not nap. She never has. If she falls asleep in the car during our running throughout the day she's up until midnight. Seriously. (You might think I am exaggerating. I am not. MIDNIGHT. and some nights we leave her wide awake on the couch and go to bed ourselves.) I do everything in my power to stay out of the car after 4pm so that she won't fall asleep.

This morning she woke up at 6 and around 3:30 John found her completely crashed on our bedroom floor.
She must've been one tired girl.
Hopefully she'll go to bed tonight.
{Thanks to a long, long drive around town at 9pm she's sleeping soundly in her bed.}

*****
This morning the kids wanted me to take a picture of them all together, sitting so cutely on the couch.

too bad Jake & Georgie couldn't take their eyes off the tv long enough for me to take that cute picture.

Christened

Naomi took all of her naps in the crib today and seemed to really like the change of venue. After her first nap I could hear her in there cooing and talking and walked in to find this sweet face...

She is such a cute girl!

After her third nap I walked in to find this...

not so sweet.

And even though she's been all smiles and happiness today she's been running a fever of 102. She doesn't have any other symptoms just the fever.
Here's hopin' it goes away soon.
I hate seeing my babies sad.
******

These two have been sending me on a roller coaster lately. One minute they're playing together so well and the next they're yelling and fighting. One of them has a very short temper and the other lets it build & build until it blows. Can you guess which is which?

But they really do love each other.
Weren't they cute today in their own version of matchy-matchy!?!
They did this all on their own.

{But lately most days Jacob can be found wearing a green shirt. Green is his current favorite color. Just the other day someone said to me that their daughter describes him as, "Jacob with the green shirt". }

{This is the third green shirt Jacob had on today. The first I made him put in the dirty clothes because it was soaking wet from him sucking on the collar and the second shirt got wet when he jumped on the kiddie pool after the sprinklers came on. Good thing he has several more green shirts in his closet.}

Transition

Our sweet Naomi Jean is getting too big for her bassinet in our room. I always find her jammed into a corner, usually with a leg through the bar, crying because she's so uncomfortable. So today I decided that it's just about time for her to make the transition into the crib in the kids room.

Before she can start taking her naps there I needed to get it ready for her. I started by removing all the bedding and throwing it in the wash, then checked all the screws making sure they were tight, dusted and scrubbed the crib, raised the bed back up (it was still all the way down from when Georgie slept there), and finally re-made the bed... special for Naomi.

Now it's all ready for our girls big transition...

{She'll start napping there tomorrow.}

Dodger Fans

When Jacob was a baby we bought him a hat at a Dodger game and he would wear it all the time. Now he shares it with his sisters and it's Naomi's turn...

A Little Mommy-time

After a pretty good day at home with the kids I got to escape tonight for dinner with some friends in honor of Meme's birthday. We had a great time and chatted late into the night. It was really nice.

Homework begins

This week starts the beginning of years of homework for Jacob. He was very excited to complete his letter A sheet.

Even Georgie wanted to do homework.
(notice who holds the pencil correctly and who doesn't. we gotta work on that.)

From some reason I don't think this excitement will last through the years...

Habits

Late this afternoon Meme & Mema along with Norah & Tommy came over to play. We were all very excited to have them here! I'm lovin' our new Tuesday/Thursday afternoon play habit.

After visiting at the house for a while Meme & I headed out with the kids for a little birthday treat in her honor. On our way we stopped at the "bus park" to play for a little while.

{slide races are lots of fun!}

And then made our way to The Habit for (dinner and a) treat!

We sat out on the patio, the weather was perfect, the kids were really good, and we had a nice time enjoying each others company. My how things have changed since the days at "grand ole Quartz Hill High"... but I am so grateful that, after all we've been through, we are still dear, dear friends.
(just as we were finishing dinner John joined us on his way home from work. perfect timing!)

Story Time

While Jake was at school the girls & I joined Heather & Andrew and Heather & Miley at Barnes & Noble for Story Time.

Georgie loved it!!

When Jacob was her age we went to story time at the library every week so I decided while he's in school I need to make sure Georgie gets some of the same experiences he did. She really is loving this time she gets with me without Jacob. I've noticed how her vocabulary has grown. She is a lot more fun on her own, her personality shines through and she's much more pleasant to be around. We've had significantly less temper tantrums and she's much more willing to listen and do what she's asked. I've even noticed that when she gets into trouble it affects her more than usual. (Usually she acts like she's indifferent to anything I say, but when it's just the two of us & she's naughty and I call her on it she's been crying. I can tell she's actually listening... finally! And, thankfully, these situations are few and far between... so far.) I think we're finally enjoying each other. We're learning how to get along. I am loving this time together.

I love my Georgie Girl with all my heart and am so grateful for this time together.
We've needed it.

Gorgeous George

We're totally in trouble...

Georgia Ann already thinks she's older than she is.
And some days it feels like she's 2 going on twenty.

Today while Gram, the girls and I were attending Hayley's bridal shower Georgie found a room full of girl toys to play with all by herself. She was in heaven.

We should probably get her some girl toys.
It's a good thing Christmas isn't too far away.
(I'm sure there'll come a day when we have far too many girl toys at our house, but for now we mostly have are cars.)

Fun Friday

We often hear comments on how much hair Naomi has. It's all up front.
{although it is starting to grow back in the back.}
*****
The girls joined me this afternoon for a mommy Lunch Bunch in the park to celebrate Cathy's birthday. Georgie really liked the cupcakes.

I really like the company. I really have been blessed with incredible women to share this time in life with. Love these girls.

Georgie & Mom

Georgie loves the hair flowers I made this afternoon with the Activity Day girls.
{I was recently called to serve as a leader for the 10-11 year old girls... again.}

Preschool Hats

We had a busy morning. Georgia was my little helper and first we had to drop Jacob off at preschool then head to Naomi's 4 month well-check visit. Georgie was such a great helper, I am so proud of her. (I had to think of something for her to do today since Jake and Na both had something...) Naomi's appointment went well. Dr. Daphne was very pleased with her growth. She's healthy and doing really well.

Once her appointment was over we headed home for Na to nap and Georgie and I played lots of rounds of Jenga... and then Memory until it was time to go get Jake.

We got to his school a little early so Georgie had some to swing, she was in heaven.

Jacob made a hat in preschool today. When the girls & I picked him up he was pretty excited to show it to us. He was adorable. Once we got home he wanted me to take a picture of him in his hat, front and back.

His excitement was contagious... (can you tell, Georgie is right behind him!!)
Georgie Girl wanted her picture too-- front & back.

Heather worked in the classroom today and sent me this picture of them during thier Hat Parade. soooo cute!!

Labor{less} Day

This morning started at our annual ward Labor Day breakfast in the park. The kids had a great time running around with all thier friends.

Then it was back to our house for a bbq with dear friends. Aaron & Elizabeth are in town for a few days and so we decided we needed to get everyone together. It was perfect. John maned the grill, the kids played on the slip-n-slide and in the pool, the women visited, and then the dads & kids played some wii games. It really was a perfect afternoon and the weather was absolutely beautiful.
